Fear

Good grief I love my roommate Katy.
Holy shit this week has been hard.

She was in a motorbike accident and gashed her leg open very badly. Because she's been here a lot shorter than I she didn't know how to get to a hospital. When I got home from my meetings this afternoon, I walked in to her laying on the couch crying. I won't even try and sugar coat this one. She looked terrible.

Her leg was covered in blood. Thankfully nothing else was hurt.

Many of you know that I'm a wimp when it comes to blood and when I walked in I thought I might faint. She refused to let me take her to the hospital so I went to the pharmacy to get a bunch of antibiotics, bandages and peroxide, because in Vietnam you can Vicodin over the counter.

I somehow found the strength to hold her leg still long enough to flush it with peroxide. Once we got all the Vietnam dirt out, we discovered that it was already severely infected. I called my Vietnamese friend and asked her to call us a taxi so we could get the hospital quicker. Katy finally agreed after seeing it that she needed a shot and some medical attention. What a long and gross night.

The Vietnam adventures continue!
